Our Company
Humble Beginnings
Founded in 1977, Killoran Trucking has a long history of providing transportation excellence to our customers throughout the upper Midwest through our Pneumatic and Heavy Haul divisions.
Headquartered in Buffalo, ND, our fleet has grown to 40+ power units made up of company trucks and owner operators.
It took time though and it all started with a man and a plan….and a truck of course. At the ripe old age of 30, Jerry Killoran set out with his 1977 GMC General and started making the rounds to Superior, WI and back multiple times per week.
That one truck started to multiply into a small fleet with Jerry still trucking down the road in a truck himself. After a rather particularly trying evening of trying to manage a fleet while on the road with wife Sheree in Buffalo managing the office and bookwork, Jerry decided that it was time for him to find a driver for his truck and take on day-to-day management of his fleet full time.
Jerry eventually found himself and his fleet leased onto a small carrier based out of Northwood, ND. It was there that he met Don Amundson who handled operations and sales. This combination of Jerry with his trucks, drivers, and fleet maintenance expertise coupled with Don and his dispatch and sales background proved to be a winning strategy. In 1992, the two joined forces when Don, along with his wife Dawn and children relocated to Buffalo, ND and set out to grow a company. And they did.
Today
Through the ups and downs of business, our fleet has expanded to a high of almost 60 trucks to it’s current 40 truck fleet. What started as a smattering of expertise in grain hopper, flatbed, reefer, and bulk pneumatic freight eventually evolved into a dedicated fleet of dry-bulk pneumatic trailers in addition to a small fleet of RGN trailers equipped to haul over-sized machinery nationwide.
We have remained family-owned and operated since our inception. While we are large enough to handle most of your logistic and brokerage needs, we are small enough to care and have a passion for what we do. We have been fortunate to stand the test of time during the past 40 years. The guiding hand of Jerry and Don have helped propel this company to levels they never thought they would see. The main backbone behind this though are the drivers that have dedicated themselves to providing quality on-time service day in and day out. Without these men and women, we would not be here today. Our drivers are truly second-to-none and it shows. Two of our drivers
have been selected as Driver of the Year through the North Dakota Motor Carriers Association. This award is reserved for drivers that have shown a commitment to safety, have made contributions to the trucking industry, shown integrity in their interactions with drivers, co-workers, customers and the general public, may have completed documented deeds or heroism and acts of courtesy on or off the highway, and made significant contributions to improve their place of work or the lives of those who work with them. A true honor indeed.
Our mission is to provide industry leading transport solutions to our customers. We do this by building relationships with everyone that we serve, one load at a time. This is the same guiding principle that propelled Jerry back in 1977 as well as today. Dedication to our customers and their livelihood is what keeps us in business.
